The World Bank changed its gold benchmark in June 2025: recent months average daily spot prices; earlier months use the London afternoon-fixing series described in the workbook. Treat comparisons across this boundary with that methodology change in mind. The archive is not adjusted for inflation.

Compare gold in euros and understand titolo, 750 marks, maker identification and the difference between a jewellery purchase and a compro oro offer.
Italian jewellery descriptions commonly present gold fineness as a number such as 750 rather than relying only on the word carat. A 750 gold alloy contains 750 parts gold per 1,000 by mass, equivalent to 18K. For a reference valuation, use the net alloy weight and that fraction. A price for pure gold cannot be applied to the full weight of a 750 item without a purity adjustment.
The Ferrara and Ravenna Chamber of Commerce’s buying guidance explains the fineness mark and the separate identification mark. The latter includes a star, an identifying number and a province abbreviation. These details help identify the responsible manufacturer or importer; they do not set the item’s commercial price.
A new Italian gold article can carry a design or workmanship component that is not recovered by selling it as scrap. Compare the seller’s complete offer with the reference value of the fine gold, then decide how to assess the rest of the product. A handmade design and a simple bar are not interchangeable purchases even when their fine-gold contents match.
When comparing Rome, Milan, Naples or Florence offers, use the same fineness and net gold weight. The city table presents one euro reference. A difference between finished items can reflect their construction, brand, stones or service terms. Record the actual article specification and complete invoice amount rather than selecting only the lowest displayed per-gram number.
For a sale of used jewellery, ask what the buyer means by the advertised rate. Does it apply to fine gold, to 750 alloy or only to certain quantities? Request the measured weight, assessed fineness and final payable amount. Ask before testing whether stones will be removed or whether any process can damage the item.
The Vicenza Chamber of Commerce provides information on precious-metal identification and the register of mark holders. If a mark is unfamiliar, check the record rather than guessing from a province abbreviation. A manufacturer mark and a gold-weight estimate answer different questions: one identifies responsibility, while the other helps compare metal value.
Also distinguish solid alloy from a coating. Naples Chamber of Commerce guidance describes terms used for base-metal objects covered with precious metal. A plated item’s gross weight should not be multiplied by an 18K or 24K reference as though the entire object were gold alloy. Get the construction identified before using a scrap-gold calculation.
Use the purity comparison guide when moving between 750 fineness and 18 carat. The France page explains how its hallmark and resale terminology differs.
Oro 750 describes a gold alloy with 750 parts gold in 1,000, or 75% gold by mass. It corresponds to 18K in the karat system. Use the gold-bearing alloy weight and 0.75 when comparing its theoretical metal value with a pure-gold reference.
No. The Chamber of Commerce guidance explains the identification mark as a way to identify the responsible manufacturer or importer. It should not be read as the mining origin or as a government-set selling price.
Use the relevant Chamber of Commerce information for the registered mark. The Vicenza register guidance explains its format and enquiries. Record the complete number and province abbreviation; a partial or unclear impression can be difficult to identify.
One can be an offer to buy used material, while the other sells a finished product. Compare the correct transaction side, purity and weight. Ask whether the used-gold offer includes deductions or conditions before treating it as the amount you will receive.
Yes, for a comparison based on the same nominal 75% gold fraction. Enter the net gold-alloy weight, excluding separately valued stones or other material. The calculator measures metal reference value rather than the price of the bracelet’s design or brand.
It can describe a gold-coloured or gold-covered construction rather than a solid gold alloy. Naples Chamber of Commerce guidance distinguishes coating descriptions. Ask for the underlying material and the exact construction before valuing an item by gross weight.
Yes. Compare their design, construction, workmanship and selling terms as well as their fineness. Matching the gold content makes the metal comparison fair, but it does not make two finished products commercially identical.
They share the same euro reference in the city table. A locally obtained offer can differ because of the actual product and dealer terms. The table does not claim an independently collected price from each shop or city.
Agree whether removal is necessary, who keeps the stones, whether it can damage the item and whether you can reject the later offer. Obtain the valuation method before irreversible work begins. A gross-weight estimate alone cannot resolve those decisions.
They serve different purposes. Compare the bar’s premium and resale conditions with the jewellery’s metal content, design and intended use. Purity measures composition; it does not by itself decide which product suits a particular purchase.
The countries use the same currency, and these pages use the same international EUR metal reference. Their finished-product markets, charges and consumer rules can still differ. Compare complete offers for the same specifications before drawing a conclusion about purchase cost.
The chart tracks the selected metal series. A designer piece may have a separate market for its workmanship, condition or provenance. Obtain an item-specific offer if those features matter rather than assuming every change in gold translates into the same resale change.
