Understanding the gold rate in India
The default India source converts international gold spot into Indian rupees. It provides a consistent reference for the value of the metal, but it is not an independent Indian retail quotation. The dashboard labels this series “spot-equivalent” so you can identify the distinction before comparing it with a shop price.
If the website operator enables the optional IBJA connector, the page instead displays that source’s reported Indian reference series. IBJA publishes rates for specified fineness grades and weights. Its published rates exclude applicable GST and making charges. The source label and methodology identify which series is active; history from a different series is kept separate.
22K and 24K gold per 10 grams
Select 10 grams for a ten-gram comparison, or enter a custom weight in the calculator. A calculated 22K value scales the metal content of the reference price. Where a source supplies a distinct purity quotation, the dashboard can preserve it instead. The calculation note identifies the treatment used for the displayed data.
A final jewellery invoice can include taxes, making charges, stone weight and other items. Check the invoice’s gold weight and declared fineness instead of treating the total item weight as pure gold.
Why yesterday’s rate can be missing
The history table contains observations this site has collected or the operator has imported from a permitted source. It does not create prices for weekends, unavailable dates or the period before collection started. “Previous available” refers to the most recent earlier recorded date; it may differ from yesterday.
Why is my local jeweller’s price different?
The source, quotation time, city, buy/sell spread, dealer premium and charges can differ. Ask for a breakdown using the same purity and weight before making a comparison.
Is the India page an official government rate?
No. Read the visible source label. The default series is international spot converted into rupees. An optional local reference series has its own publisher and reporting schedule.
