A failed download can have several different causes. Start with the link and the public availability of the post before changing browser settings.
This guide is written for visitors using SnapTik. It focuses on steps you can actually try from your browser or device.
1. Check the TikTok Link
Copy the link from the individual TikTok post rather than a profile, search page or hashtag page. If you copied text from a message, make sure the complete URL is included.
See How to Copy a TikTok Link for examples of valid post links.
2. Confirm the Post Opens Publicly
Open the same link in a normal browser. If the post cannot be viewed without special account access, the downloader may not be able to process it either.
3. Private or Restricted Posts
SnapTik does not bypass private accounts, friends-only posts, login requirements or other access controls. Repeatedly submitting a restricted link will not make it public.
Read Public vs Private TikTok Videos for the boundary in more detail.
4. Deleted or Unavailable Posts
If the creator deleted the post or TikTok no longer makes it available, the original public URL may remain in messages or search results even though the media can no longer be retrieved.
5. Expired Stories
TikTok Stories are temporary. A Story link that worked earlier may stop working after the Story expires or is removed.
Use the TikTok Story Downloader while the public Story is still active.
6. Re-copy Short Sharing Links
Short TikTok sharing links redirect to the final post. If a short link is incomplete, old or copied with extra punctuation, copy it again directly from TikTok and retry.
7. Without Watermark Button Missing
The clean video option appears only when a genuine clean source is available for that post. SnapTik does not manufacture a fake no-watermark file by blurring an existing watermark.
8. With Watermark Button Missing
A separate watermarked button appears only when a distinct watermarked source is available. If only one genuine video source is returned, only that valid choice is shown.
9. MP3 Button Missing
MP3 requires compatible media and audio conversion support on the site. If source audio is available but MP3 is not, you may still be able to download the original audio track.
See the TikTok MP3 Downloader for the difference between source audio and converted MP3.
10. Download All Photos Missing
Photo posts can still offer individual images when a combined photo download is unavailable. Saving one image at a time does not reduce the quality of the returned image.
11. Photo Post Returns No Photos
First confirm that the URL points to the actual photo post. If the post opens correctly but no images are returned, the post format may have changed or may be temporarily unsupported.
12. Too Many Requests
If you see a rate-limit message, stop submitting the same link repeatedly and try again after a short break. Request limits protect the service from automated abuse and excessive concurrent traffic.
13. Download Starts but Fails
Check your connection, available storage and browser download list. On mobile, switching networks or retrying in the main browser can help when an in-app browser interrupts the file transfer.
14. Download Link Expired
Processed download links are temporary. If an old result has expired, paste the original TikTok URL into SnapTik again to create a fresh download session.
15. Browser Blocks or Opens the File
Some browsers preview media instead of immediately saving it. Use the browser download action or the save option provided by the device. Also check whether your browser is blocking automatic downloads.
16. VPN, Proxy or Network Issues
A VPN, filtered network or privacy gateway can sometimes block the source media host even when the SnapTik page itself loads. If appropriate, retry on a normal network connection.
17. Privacy Extensions and Script Blocking
Strict script blockers can prevent the downloader form from sending the request or displaying the result. Allow the essential SnapTik page scripts and retry. SnapTik does not require browser-notification permission for ordinary downloads.
18. When TikTok Changes Media Delivery
TikTok can change how public media is delivered. A temporary platform change can affect one or more download methods until compatibility is restored. If the post is clearly public and the problem affects several different links, retry later or report the issue through the Contact page.
What to Include When Reporting a Problem
Send the type of post, the exact error message, your browser/device, and whether the public TikTok link opens normally. Do not send your TikTok password or other account credentials.
Troubleshooting FAQs
SnapTik opens but nothing happens when I press Download
Confirm JavaScript is enabled, paste a direct public post URL, and retry in a normal browser tab rather than an embedded in-app browser.
Why does TikTok open but SnapTik says unavailable?
The post may require account context, be region restricted, use a changed media format, or be temporarily unsupported even though the TikTok page itself opens.
Why is only one watermark option shown?
SnapTik only shows genuine distinct media sources. It does not duplicate one file under two different labels.
Why can I download audio but not MP3?
Source audio can exist even when MP3 conversion is unavailable. The two options are technically different.
Why can I download photos individually but not all at once?
Individual image downloads can work even when a combined ZIP download is unavailable.
Why did yesterday’s download link stop working?
Download sessions are intentionally temporary. Process the original post again to get a new result.
What should I do if many public links suddenly fail?
Recheck one or two known public posts, then try again later or report the issue. A platform-side change can temporarily affect extraction.
