Networking information can become outdated as manufacturers release firmware, ISPs customize hardware, and old documentation disappears. Corrections are treated as maintenance of the product, not as an embarrassment to hide.
What to include in a correction
The most useful report includes the page URL, router model, hardware revision if known, firmware/ISP variant, the value that appears to be wrong, and a link or photo reference to the manufacturer/provider documentation that supports the correction. Do not send passwords or private account information.
How we handle reports
- Reproduce or verify the issue against the strongest available source.
- Correct the field and explanatory text together.
- Narrow the scope if the old statement was too broad.
- Update the verification date only after the recheck.
- Consolidate or remove a page if it no longer has a distinct purpose.
Historical information
An old default can still be useful for an old model. Instead of silently replacing it with a modern brand-wide statement, we preserve the model/revision context whenever that history matters.
