International spot
A spot quote is a market reference for the metal. Providers may use different market inputs, update intervals and quote conventions. The source name and timestamp help identify what you are comparing.
A currency conversion
Converting US dollar spot into rupees changes the currency of the reference. It does not independently measure a local jewellery or bullion market. Exchange-rate inputs and their observation times can also differ.
A local reference
A publisher can report a rate for a particular local market and fineness. That reference may follow its own daily schedule, market practices and treatment of charges. Its provenance should be visible, and its history should remain separate from a converted spot series.
A transaction quotation
A dealer offers a price for a particular product, quantity, buy or sell direction and point in time. Premiums, margins and charges can make this different from any general reference. Compare the full payable or receivable amount on a written quotation.
How this website handles the distinction
The dashboard labels the active quote as spot, spot-equivalent or local reference. A fallback is not silently substituted into another source’s history. Read that label before using a calculated figure as a comparison.
