The US dollar gold spot reference
This page displays the latest available international gold spot quote in US dollars from Gold-API.com. Spot is a reference for the underlying metal. A coin, small bar or jewellery item may trade above or below the calculated reference after dealer premiums, spreads and other charges.
Gold per troy ounce and per gram
Precious metals use the troy ounce, which equals 31.1034768 grams. It differs from the ordinary ounce used for many household measurements. The dashboard converts the source’s troy-ounce quote into grams and then into the selected weight.
For calculated purity values, 22K represents 22 parts gold out of 24. The resulting amount estimates the gold content’s reference value. A dealer’s purchase offer for used jewellery may also account for testing, refining and the buying margin.
What the chart shows
The local chart uses this website’s collected daily observations. An observation is the latest accepted snapshot available for that calendar date in the displayed market time zone; it is not an official exchange settlement. The optional provider chart contains separate international history and clearly identifies its publisher.
Is spot the price I will pay for a gold coin?
Usually a dealer quotes a product price that includes a premium or spread. Compare equivalent products and ask for the full payable amount, including any applicable fees and taxes.
Does the price update continuously at weekends?
Data availability follows the source and market schedule. The page preserves observation timestamps and can show an older or stale quote when a new observation is unavailable.
