Sehri & Iftar Calculator
Sehri & Iftar Calculator
Calculated Suhoor and Iftar times for the coordinates, method and time zone shown.
What it calculates
Sehri ends at the start of Fajr (true dawn) and Iftar begins at Maghrib (sunset). This calculator solves the sun’s position for the coordinates and IANA time zone shown beside the result and returns both times plus the calculated fasting duration.
How to use it
- Press Use my location, or type your latitude and longitude.
- Choose the calculation method your country uses — Umm al-Qura for the Gulf, Karachi for South Asia, ISNA for North America, MWL for most of Europe and Africa.
- Pick the Asr school if you also compare prayer times: Hanafi uses a later shadow ratio.
- Change the date to preview any day of Ramadan.
Choosing a method
Methods differ in the twilight angle used for Fajr and Isha. A difference of a few minutes between your mosque and any calculator is normal; where they differ, follow your local mosque.
Every calculation on this page runs inside your own browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored on our servers.
What Sehri and Iftar mean in this calculator
Sehri ends at the calculated entry of Fajr; Iftar is tied to calculated Maghrib/sunset. The result is not a mosque iqamah schedule. Small differences from a local timetable can result from method choices, safety margins, elevation or more precise local coordinates.
Check the method before comparing results
Fajr is especially sensitive to the twilight angle. The tool displays the calculation method, Asr setting and time zone so a user can compare like with like.
Manual coordinates are valuable
City-centre coordinates are convenient, but users far from the centre can enter their own latitude/longitude. The tool should then label the result as custom coordinates rather than leaving a stale city name that implies greater geographic precision.
Sunset is not a network lookup
The core result is calculated from solar geometry in the browser. That makes it reproducible even when a third-party prayer API is unavailable, but it also means method parameters and time-zone data must be correct.
Frequently asked questions
Should I stop eating at Fajr or a few minutes before?
The fast begins at the entry of Fajr. Many people stop eating a few minutes earlier as a precaution (imsak), which is a recommended practice rather than an obligation.
Why is my mosque’s Iftar one minute later?
Mosques often add a one to three minute safety margin to sunset. That is a deliberate precaution, not an error in the calculation.
