What this tool answers
“What day of Ramadan is it today?” is the single most searched Ramadan question. Pick any date and the calculator shows the matching Ramadan day number, the Islamic date, and how many fasts are still ahead.
How to use it
- The date box opens on today by default.
- Choose any other date to check a past or future day.
- The fact list underneath shows the first fast, the last fast, the total number of fasting days and the fasts remaining.
Interpreting the answer
Day 1 is the first fasting day. Because the Islamic day begins at sunset, the night of Ramadan 1 starts after Maghrib on the evening before the first fast — that evening is when the first Taraweeh prayer is held.
Every calculation on this page runs inside your own browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored on our servers.
How the day number is derived
The calculator counts the projected first fast as Ramadan day 1. With 8 February 2027 as the planning start, 8 March is day 29 and 9 March is the possible day 30. If a local authority announces a different first fast, change the starting date before relying on the result.
Why day 30 is conditional
An Islamic lunar month has 29 or 30 days. A planning calendar can show a possible thirtieth day, but it should not describe that date as confirmed before the end-of-month determination.
Outside the projected month
A date before the first fast or after the selected Ramadan end should be labelled outside the chosen Ramadan range rather than forced into a negative or 31st day number.
Local announcement update
If your community’s confirmed first fast differs, the day-number result shifts with it. The tool is deliberately parameter-driven so the website does not need to pretend one global date applies everywhere.
